Snow Emergency Parking is in effect:
Municipal Ordinance 294(7.04)(a) "No person shall park or leave standing any vehicle at any time, day or night, on any street, road or thoroughfare within the Village of Silver Lake, during or after a snowfall of two (2) inches or more until snow plowing operations are completed." Any Vehicle parked in violation of this ordinance may be issued a citation and/or towed and stored at the vehicle owner's expense.
The Silver Lake Police Department and Maintenance Department ask for the cooperation of everyone in keeping our streets plowed this winter. Your thoughtfulness and cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
Silver Lake most likely received it's name from the Native Americans in the area because they considered the lake a shimmering pool of water. Later after the railroad arrived in 1886, the community became a summer spot for tourists and had a thriving ice business in the winter months. With electricity the ice business was over but recreation remained. Since it's beginning, Silver Lake has been a resort recreation spot, a thriving and growing community, home to inventors, a great place to live and much more.
